Oasis

Oasis is a student-run software project accelerator that used to offer Full Stack Series workshops. Now, it is purely a software project accelerator catering to those with limited experience in web development.

UX/UI Design, Branding

OBJECTIVE

As a founding member, and a the first brand manager, I was tasked to build the brand identity from the ground up including graphics and webdesign via Webflow.

APPROACH

I built the identity based on a brand personality agreed by the team: professional, approachable, and fun. The brand’s main value is community.

The concept behind the main imagery of the brand was this idea of using technology to create an Oasis in the desert. The entire mission of Oasis was to foster a community of people who wanted to learn coding and start doing their own CS projects without feeling intimidated. Metaphorically, we were the Oasis of people lost on where to start on their CS projects.

Upon joining the team, I was tasked to revamp the website they built through Webflow. As brand manager, the website has gone through three major changes. The reason for changing a third time was that Oasis shifted its focus to only being a project accelerator, and not offer any workshops at all. With this, I redesigned the website to convey all the information needed in one landing page. This would help applicants find what their looking for quicker than going through different pages of the website.

Evolution of the website

The following are motion graphics I created for the second version of the website. These were all made in After Effects and were exported as Lottie animations (jsons).

Some fun tidbits from the
second website.

For such a small organization, our pioneering participants were given shirts and the pioneering mentors were given sweatshirts. Over the three semesters we’ve given out boxes including postcards that thanked each participants. This included shirts, stickers, and a postcard.
